Is your home “staycation” ready?

One of Joan's and my favorite things to do is to walk along the river near our home, pulling our 17-year-old dog Lexi in her wagon. We are so fortunate our housing tract is right next to the Pittsburg boat harbor, on one side, and bordered by the river. It is so enjoyable to see the ever-changing river; one day smooth as glass and the next choppy and rough.

Just this week, as we took our evening walk, we were serenaded by music with every step. The Pittsburg "Blues & Funk" festival venue was right around our the bend on the Pittsburg Marina. It is such a great venue, on the grass next to the Harbor Pilot offices, overlooking the harbor with all the beautiful yachts.

We stood for many moments and watched the people dancing under the festoon lighting and big white tent. With the moored boats on the water bobbing along to the music, too. I, personally, love Blues & Funk, the music I grew up with. It gets me to humming and sets my soul on fire.

It was a wonderful concert there at the Marina in old town Pittsburg. Who can beat that for an evening walk serenade?

Not to mention, it certainly makes for a wonderful place to vacation -- a staycation at home!

Is your home ready for a staycation? What if you made your home a bit more staycation friendly to insure it really is better than going abroad?
