A restorative Father’s Day hike!

Are you ready for a restorative hike?

Over the past 18 years, every time we drove to my Mother-In-Law’s in  Auburn, I would take note of the Cosumnes River Preserve. We never stopped to visit. We just drove along the Sacramento River’s deepwater channel, on the Sacramento Delta, then turned north on Interstate 5.

I could clearly see glimpses of the Cosumnes River as we changed from two-lane farming roads to head North on Interstate 5.

The Cosumnes River Preserve is just one mile off the freeway, by Interstate 5.

This year my daughter Lisa and I took our delayed Father’s day hike at the Cosumnes River Preserve. We met there last Sunday morning, as the gates were opened. What a hiking treasure.

The whole park is ADA compliant, with wheelchair access to all the trails. What a pleasure for me to easily walk every trail. They deny bicycles, and pets on the trails to protect all the park wildlife. We could even walk right up to the cottontail rabbits and they were not afraid of us.

The park has large shaded picnic tables, a Kayak boat ramp access to the river, maps, and diagrams, quick cell phone scan postings of all the park features, and a well-planned layout of all the wetlands and dry areas.

This is one of the best hikes we have taken. Thank you so much, Lisa. It was a deeply restorative hike and time together.

Here’s hoping we can work with you to plan your next project, as well planned as Cosumnes River Preserve was planned. Let us know what project you’d like to plan together.
