Everyone needs help … Even huge ships!

Everyone needs a bit of help or guidance … even huge ships!

Living on the Sacramento River Delta is a delight. We see the present day’s weather on the water, abundant wildlife, and much water traffic. The contrast of nature’s river otters and ocean ship commerce is shocking.

Just yesterday a huge bulk-carrier ship went past, headed to the Pittsburg docks. The large and heavy ship needed two tugs to guide it into the dock. One tug led the way, and the other was tethered to the ship’s rear, to slow the ship when needed. Tugs are so necessary to help fit huge ships into tight slips and safely navigate the narrow river channel. It is hard to believe that the thin cable from the tug to a huge ship could even take the strain when needed.

These last few months have brought strains to our lives, from social distancing, loss of normal events and places, to real questions about where to go for what you need.

Maybe like the huge ships, you might need a little help? Please give us a call if we can help or guide you!

Valentine’s Day is our day to celebrate

Is Valentine’s Day a day to celebrate? It certainly is for us!

Joan and I celebrate our 40th year of marriage on February 14th… yes, Valentine’s Day. It has been a wonderful loving journey and thankfully, we travel well together! After all, it has always been about the journey, not the destination. I am so fortunate to have such a wonderful wife!

We have had many journeys to experience in those 40 years … The journey of living in several places in the Bay Area (Pleasant Hill, San Leandro, San Ramon, and now Pittsburg). The journey of raising a daughter. The journey of shared goals and values in our on-going marriage … some of which are the love of God, kindness, love, and healthy living. The journey of sacred self-care.

And, let’s not forget the journey of raising furry loved ones, of which we’ve had manyPresently, we feel so blessed to have our wonderful dog, Eldred, in our life’s journey. It’s hard to believe it will be two years on the 23rd that we adopted her from Tony LaRussa’s ARF rescue shelter.

Lately, as is probably true for you, too, we are on the journey of … concentrating on wearing masks, washing hands, social distancing, and ensuring we stay safe and healthy.
