Sometimes it’s an inside job …

Since we have excessive heat days and dangerous levels of smoke in the outside air, we are sprucing up the inside of the house. I just finished sanding and painting all the windowsills and the fireplace mantle. 

We are going from room to room, washing base boards, noting the dings to repair, and returning to touch up the paint. I just found out we are out of the paint for the accent wall in our home office. That’s Joan’s area of expertise, to pick out paint color and decide if we try to match the color or prime and paint with a new color. 

We will also be updating the kitchen cabinets by adding 1 ½ by ¾ inch wood trim to the face of the drawers and doors. Then changing the color of all the cabinets.

Sprucing up and updating is the theme these days in our home.

Owning a home can certainly be a lot of maintenance, repair, and upkeep. We know this to be true for our home. And, often it is a lot of hard work. Let it go too long and the project is bigger or more challenging than it needs to be. The best time is to update and do regular maintenance before it deteriorates.
