Our newest DIY project — Our “Hearts of Love” gate

I have come to realize how important it is to notice what you are focused upon.

Right now, I am focused on what I can do, or not do; spending more time reading, completing DIY projects, and watching less TV.

I get quality news from National Public Radio to stay informed. NPR’s thoughtful presentation is so refreshing and different from the fear presentation of commercial TV. That allows me to decide what is important to me, like creating a peaceful environment at home.

Our latest DIY project is the new patio gate. Joan, Eldred and I shopped at Urban Ore recycling center in Berkeley, for a rod iron decorative piece. Joan and I then designed a simple wooden gate frame to hold the decoration and affix the hinges.

After assembly, Eldred and I installed and leveled the gate. Eldred loves being outside with me. She is either enjoying the smells and sites, or being my supervisor, it is hard to tell which one she prefers. Sometimes she sits right on my feet and other times she sits outside the fence on high alert to any possible “cat” action. She is a great companion.

Our good friend CJ even named our new gate, “Hearts of Love”. CJ has spent years photographing and publishing gates of the bay area. It is lovely to get her seal of approval for our gate.

And, as always, I enjoy hearing about your DIY projects. Drop me a line.

God bless and protect you all. Peace be with you.
