What are you doing while you shelter in place?

Joan, our dog Eldred and I are sheltering in place. We have had to adjust to this new way of life with lots of available hours.

The satisfying ways we have found to fill those hours are with walks, home projects in the garden and garage, the fixing of good quality food, meditating, watching lighthearted TV shows, and reading.

One of the projects I just finished was a fold down Murphy type desk and work table for the garage. I am using this area to sort tools and supplies to keep or throw away. This is long delayed maintenance that feels good to have accomplished.

We continue to look at creative and industrious ways to enjoy and cherish this time in our home. Our highest priority and commitment is to social and physical distancing … for the safety of ourselves and others. It is a commitment we take seriously, one that …

… not everyone is observing. As we experienced on our last outing to a grocery store in Brentwood. This particular store was not practicing appropriate protocols for safety.

There were too many people allowed in the store at once, no sanitizers were available, and the staff were not observing proper guidelines and sanitation. Clearly a risky environment for us (and the employees) so we left quickly and decided not to go back to that store.

Please do stay in touch. I’m always glad to hear how you are doing. Drop me a line. And, may God bless and protect you all.

NOTE: Currently, due to sheltering in place, we are not seeing clients in their homes.

Are you sitting in the dark?

Joan and I like to read. We belong to the “Movie-lovers Book Club,” book club, and Joan belongs to “Café Noir,” book club; both in Pittsburg.

While Joan likes to use a digital reader, I prefer a hard copy book. I do need a good reading light wherever I relax and read.

Most nights I read in bed, under the wall mounted bedside light I installed. It is a good solution not available in every room. Most home builders just put in the minimum lights and outlets. There is no accommodation for serious book readers, or anyone who needs “task lighting”.

We are currently looking for lamps to drape over the reading couch in our family room. There must be something out there that leans over enough; to put the spotlight right on the book.

Have you been sitting in the dark too long. Are you looking for solutions to your lighting and needs?

Give us a call; I know we can help you come up with a solution.
