Did you begin 2020 with a celebration?

Each new year the Diablo Valley Lions club I belong to, puts on a crab feed fundraiser. It is our biggest fundraiser of the year and I am proud to contribute to the event.

The club sets a goal of selling all 400 seats at the Center Concord where the event is held. This year our theme was Mardi Gras.

During the event the club has door prizes, raffle tickets, silent auction, a lottery ticket hat, and a bake sale auction, to raise money for various charities. The bake sale auction has been a hit for several years running. Who can resist all that yumminess?

These efforts all contribute to the Lion’s club values to support the blind and visually impaired, contribute to disaster relief, Veterans relief, to uplift and help women and children, as well as the homeless. We set a goal to net a certain amount and we will find out this week, how we did after all the accounting is done.

How about you? Did you begin your 2020 with a celebration? Goals? Desires? Maybe for your home?

What kind of goals and values do you have for your home this year? Please give us a call if we can help you. May your 2020 be all that you wish it to be.

Do you begin your new year with goals?

It is a shock to say, not only have we entered a new year, but a new decade!

As in previous years, Joan and I started the new year 2020 reaffirming our values, like self-care, our relationship and spiritual growth. We find the year starts off much better when we clarify our goals, values and priorities, then share them with each other.

Thankfully, that process was made much easier due to my client, Karen, who so kindly returned my lost briefcase which I had left at her home during my handyman visit. In it was some valuable information from last year’s goal setting, plus two shirts I hadn’t seen in a while. What fortunate timing, just in time for this year’s goal setting!

One of the things that is on my goals each year is to read. I believe that reading just makes my life better, and I would like to recommend three books from last year: The Happiness Equation : Want Nothing + Do Anything = Have Everything, by Neil Pasricha, Talking to Strangers, by Malcolm Gladwell and The Hate You Give, a novel by Angie Thomas. I found that these books cleared the fog of social media and the news to illuminate a path forward. They are worth the read.

For Joan and I, after some refreshing time off over the holidays, we feel invigorated to start the New Year.

We hope that your new year and decade is all that you wish it to be. It is our greatest desire to help you with your home maintenance need and goals, whether handyman or electrical in nature.
