Want to know what this handyman did on Father’s Day?

I want to say thank you to my wife Joan for honoring me on Father’s Day. I had no idea what she had planned. And each event a surprise was just the right choice, bringing me great joy.

We started the day by hiking Contra Loma Regional Park, a 780-acre regional park.  Joan, Eldred (our dog) and I, went all the way around the expanse of the reservoir.

It was the first time we had been on that trail. The trail sights, river views and Eldred’s enthusiasm added to my enjoyment. The best part was Joan and Eldred were there, too.

After our hike, we then took a nice drive ending up at a favorite of mine, Salad Makers for a great big yummy salad. Mine was BBQ chicken. I love the taste and crunch of a good salad.

For dessert, Joan took me to Steeltown Coffee & Tea for an Affogato, my favorite drink; a shot of espresso, chocolate covered coffee beans, vanilla ice cream, and cocoa powder.

After a brief rest in the late afternoon, and a chance to digest all that food and dessert, we topped the evening off with dinner at The New Mecca. I had chicken enchiladas and Joan had chicken tacos. A great way to end a wonderful, surprise filled day.

Thank you so much Honey for such a special day.

Gives us a call if we can help make that special someone, maybe a dad in your life, feel extra special, too.

Time to honor our fathers

There are many ways that we can honor our fathers. One of the ways my Dad enjoyed, was to drive up to the little river town of Locke. Just Dad and me.

We would drive Dad’s huge Cadillac, cruising down the river road. The drive on the Delta is beautiful. He loved eating at Al’s Place Restaurant, where they serve great New York steaks, fries, and sour dough bread with peanut butter and jelly. New York steaks were one of his favorites.

It was well worth the congestion of the drive on Father’s Day. A much cherished one to one time and road trip with my Dad.

My daughter Lisa has honored me in past years visiting Muir Woods, Sunol Regional Wilderness and sharing Briones Regional Park. She knows I really love nature, so we usually take a hike. It is so fun to spend time with my daughter catching up with her life. The bonus is we have all of nature recharging us with every step and breath we take.

Hope you have fun plans on Father’s Day June 16th … no matter what you have planned.
